• What is Starfruit?

  Starfruit is a new project at Swisscom Innovations set up to explore virtual worlds like Second Life. For more information see about us.

• Who is part of the Starfruit community?

  Anyone is free to be part of the Starfruit community just get a phone booth and become a member.

Gift service

• Where can I buy gifts?

  Presents can only be bought in Second Life. Visit our Gift Shop in Second Life. Our gifts are NOT sold over websites.

• How do I buy gifts?

  At our Gift Shop in Second Life. you can choose from our selection of gifts. Then point at the gift you want, click pay and once paid the gift will be placed in your inventory. You can then give this to your friend in second life. She can redeem the voucher and get the real life equivalent gift in the real world.

• How do I redeem a gift I get?

  Simple. Just take the gift from your inventory and either put it on (wear). Click on the virtual gift and enter your details on the website.

• Do the gifts exipre?

  Yes! If the person receiving the gift cannot or does not redeem the voucher within 30 days the buyer of the gift will be refunded his money in Linden$.

• Do you ship internationally?

  Yes! We are proud to be able to deliver flowers to 94% of all Second Life users. Details...
  

• Can I buy other gifts?

  The only gifts that can be bought are present in our shop. Visit our Gift Shop in Second Life.
  

SMS phone booth

• Is sending of SMS text messages really free?

  Yes!
  This is a time limited offer! First 50'000 SMS are sponsored by Swisscom Mobile.

• How many SMS can I send?

  The number of SMS is currently limited to 30 SMS per avatar per month.

• How long can the message be?

  - Registered users: Up to 160 characters.
  - Not (yet) registered: Up to 160 chacacters including your avatar name.

• Why do I have to type /8 ?

  If your message starts with /8 other residents around you can't see what you write. Like this your communiation to the phone booth is more secure.
  

• Why should I register?

  Registering your mobile phone number to your avatar has several advantages:
  - your friends can reply directly to your messages
  - your friends can see your phone number and are not confused
  - you can send longer messages up to 160 characters
  
  Registration is very easy. Simply type /8 REGISTER followed by your phone number. Example:
  /8 REGISTER 0015551234567
  You will receive an SMS text message with a secret code to check that you are the owner of this phone.
  
  If you do not register, your friends can NOT reply to the message and the message is prefixed with your avatar name.

• Can I un-register?

  Sure!
  Simply type /8 UNREGISTER
  Friends you sent SMS text messages to can no longer see your phone number and can NOT reply to your message any more.
  Since the message is preficed with your avatar name, your have less characters to write.

• I received a confirmation SMS. What's that?

  If you did not request this confiration SMS text message, simply ignore it. Sombody might have misspelled his phone number.
  
  However if you tried to register yourself, simply follow the instructions in the message to complete your registration.

• What countries can you send SMS to?

  Worldwide to any GSM mobile phone!

• How can I get my own phone booth?

  The phone booth is free to take a copy. Just point at the booth, right click and choose 'take copy'. The telephone booth object will then be placed in your inventory. Then choose a location on your own land and take it from your inventory and place it on your land. It is ready to use.
  

• What benefit do I have if I have a phone booth?

  More traffic, the chance to discover the coolest places in Second Life, free SMS possibilities and direct access to the gift shop.

• Can I have more than one phone booth?

  Yes.
  

• Can I turn off the particles flying above the phone booth?

  Yes! The owner of a phone booth can turn it on or of by clicking on the cube on top of the phone booth.
  

• How can I discover new places?

  Just click on the poster in the phone booth and the phone booth will randomly suggest a new location to you from the Starfruit community.
  

• What is the rating for?

  You can rate a place before being teleported to another location in the Starfruit community. The higher the ratings of a particlar location the more traffic it will receive (the better your rating the more people will be teleported there).
